A tale of two Sydneys
Last April two British teenagers wanted to go to Australia for their summer vacation. But it was a 24 hour trip by plane, and tickets were very expensive. So Raoul Sebastian and Emma Nunn, age 19, looked for cheap tickets on the Internet. They were lucky, and they booked two tickets to Sydney.
On August 4th, they arrived at Heathrow airport. They checked in and waited for the plane to leave. Six hours later they landed at a big airport and changed planes.
Emma: I was a little worried because the second plane was very small, but I didn’t want to say anything to Raoul.
Raoul: After only an hour the plane landed. We looked out the window. It was a very small airport. We walked to the information desk, and I showed our tickets to the woman.
“When is our next flight?” I asked.
She looked at our tickets. “The next flight? This is the end of your trip. Where did you want to go?”
“Where are we?” I asked.
Do you think they were in Sydney?
First of all guys, look for the verbs in past simple and make a list ok? Then you can continue with the final of the story.
Sydney, Nova Scotia, Population 26,000
Raoul and Emma were in Sydney, but not Sydney, Australia.
They were in Sydney, Nova Scotia, in northeastern Canada!
The story of Emma and Raoul was on television and in newspapers around the world. They stayed in Sydney, Nova Scotia, for four days. Then they traveled home on Air Canada to London, England (not London Canada).

BREAKFAST: The first meal of the day!
American Breakfast.- The traditional breakfast in the U. S. and Canada is a hot meal usually without any vegetables. It includes pancakes with maple syrup, waffles, croissants, bacon, scrambled or fried eggs, etc. This breakfast is popular but, during the week, Americans just have toast or cereal and coffee, milk or orange juice. Some people don't have breakfast at all. Coffee shops or diners serve breakfast all day and many people usually go there on the weekend.
Full English Breakfast.- "The only way to eat well in England is to have breakfast three times a day!" (Somerset Maugham) The traditional English breakfast is a hot meal. It includes eggs, bacon and sausages, fried tomatoes, baked beans, mushrooms, toast, black pudding and tea or coffee. Not many British people eat it during the week. They prefer cereal, oatmeal, toast, fruit, yogurt and tea or coffee. They Usually enjoy a Full English on the weekend. Coffee shops or "greasy spoons" serve this breakfasta at any time of the day.
English Second Language
I'd share with you this video, it's very essential to know that taking English as a second language is very important nowadays, the only thing that we care about this video is the complete message from Mr. Duncan about the importance of learning English, however we are going to take our personal lessons in classroom and of course we are going to practice our structure and written expression helping ourselves by this blog. Enjoy it!!!
